Senior Tenure-Track Faculty Position

Department of Information Science and Applied Artificial Intelligence
Bar-Ilan University

This announcement is written in the masculine form but is intended for applicants of all genders.

The Department of Information Science and Applied Artificial Intelligence at Bar-Ilan University invites applications from outstanding candidates for a senior tenure-track faculty position.

Anticipated start date: October 2026.

Position Requirements

The successful candidate will be expected to:

  • Conduct independent and innovative research at the highest academic level

  • Publish in leading peer-reviewed scientific venues

  • Provide excellent full-time teaching in accordance with the standard academic workload

  • Supervise graduate research students

  • Secure competitive external research funding

  • Collaborate with researchers in Israel and internationally

  • Demonstrate strong teamwork abilities

  • Contribute to the advancement of research and teaching within the department

  • Postdoctoral experience at a university abroad is considered an advantage.

Additional Information

  • The language of instruction is Hebrew.

  • The appointment is subject to academic and budgetary approval by the University.

 

Required Areas of Expertise

Candidates must demonstrate expertise in at least three of the following areas:

  • Natural Language Processing

  • Artificial Intelligence

  • XR (Extended Reality) and Immersive Technologies

  • Data Science, Machine Learning, and Large Language Models (LLMs)

  • Cloud Computing

  • Cybersecurity and Networking

  • Web Technologies and Social Network Analysis

  • Big Data Analysis and Management

  • AI Applications in the Human and Natural Sciences

Eligible Academic Background

Applicants must hold a PhD from a recognized research university in one of the following fields:

  • Information Science

  • Computer Science

  • Computer Engineering / Software Engineering

  • Data Science / Data Engineering

  • Information Technology

  • Information Systems

  • Industrial Engineering and Management

  • Mathematics and Exact Sciences

  • Natural Sciences

Appointments will be made in accordance with the academic procedures and regulations of Bar-Ilan University. The Department is not obligated to appoint any of the applicants.

Application Materials

Applicants are required to submit their complete application dossier by March 16, 2026 (midnight), including:

  • A cover letter outlining the candidate’s academic profile and research and teaching agenda

  • A curriculum vitae, including a list of publications and conference participation

  • A list of courses previously taught and evidence of teaching excellence

  • Contact details (name, institutional affiliation, email address, and telephone number) of three faculty members at recognized academic institutions who would be willing to provide a letter of recommendation upon request

במחלקה למדעי המידע ויישומי בינה מלאכותית באוניברסיטת בר-אילן

המודעה מנוסחת בלשון זכר, אך פונה לכל המגדרים. 

המחלקה למדעי המידע ויישומי בינה מלאכותית באוניברסיטת בר-אילן מכריזה על הליך לאיתור מועמדים מצוינים למשרה תקנית בכירה. תחילת המינוי: אוקטובר 2026.

דרישות התפקיד: עריכת מחקר עצמאי וחדשני ברמה הגבוהה ביותר, פרסום מאמרים מדעיים בבמות יוקרתיות, הוראה מצוינת במשרה מלאה לפי המכסה בתקן אקדמי,  הנחית תלמידי מחקר, התמודדות על מענקי מחקר מקרנות חיצוניות, שיתופי פעולה עם חוקרים בישראל ובחו"ל, יכולת עבודה בצוות, השתלבות עם סגל המחלקה ותרומה לקידום המחקר וההוראה במחלקה. פוסט-דוקטורט באוניברסיטה בחו"ל - יתרון.

הערות: שפת ההוראה היא עברית. המשרה כפופה לאישור אקדמי ותקציבי של האוניברסיטה. 

על המועמדים להיות מומחים לפחות בשלושה מהתחומים הבאים:

יישקלו מועמדים בעלי תואר דוקטור מאוניברסיטת מחקר מוכרת בתחומים הבאים:

  1. מדעי המידע
  2. מדעי המחשב
  3. הנדסת מחשבים / הנדסת תכנה
  4. מדעי הנתונים / הנדסת נתונים 
  5. טכנולוגיות מידע
  6. מערכות מידע
  7. הנדסת תעשיה וניהול
  8. מתמטיקה ומדעים מדויקים
  9. מדעי הטבע

איוש המשרה יתבצע בהתאם להליכים האקדמיים ולנהלים החלים באוניברסיטה, ובכפוף להם. המחלקה אינה מחויבת לקבל אף הצעה.

על המועמדים לשלוח תיק מועמדות עד ה-16.03.26 בחצות ובו:

  1. מכתב מועמדות כולל פרופיל אקדמי ואוריינטציה מחקרית והוראתית
  2. קורות חיים אקדמיים כולל רשימת פרסומים והשתתפות בכנסים
  3. רשימת קורסים שאותם העביר המועמד בעבר ועדות לרמת הוראה גבוהה
  4. פרטי קשר (שם, שיוך ממסדי, דוא"ל ומס' טלפון) של שלושה מרצים במוסד אקדמי מוכר שיהיו מוכנים לספק מכתב המלצה במקרה הצורך.
