Senior Tenure-Track Faculty Position

Department of Information Science and Applied Artificial Intelligence
Bar-Ilan University

This announcement is written in the masculine form but is intended for applicants of all genders.

The Department of Information Science and Applied Artificial Intelligence at Bar-Ilan University invites applications from outstanding candidates for a senior tenure-track faculty position.

Anticipated start date: October 2026.

Position Requirements

The successful candidate will be expected to:

• Conduct independent and innovative research at the highest academic level
• Publish in leading peer-reviewed scientific venues
• Provide excellent full-time teaching in accordance with the standard academic workload
• Supervise graduate research students
• Secure competitive external research funding
• Collaborate with researchers in Israel and internationally
• Demonstrate strong teamwork abilities
• Contribute to the advancement of research and teaching within the department
• Postdoctoral experience at a university abroad is considered an advantage.

Additional Information

• The language of instruction is Hebrew.
• The appointment is subject to academic and budgetary approval by the University.

Required Areas of Expertise

Candidates must demonstrate expertise in at least three of the following areas:

• Natural Language Processing
• Artificial Intelligence
• XR (Extended Reality) and Immersive Technologies
• Data Science, Machine Learning, and Large Language Models (LLMs)
• Cloud Computing
• Cybersecurity and Networking
• Web Technologies and Social Network Analysis
• Big Data Analysis and Management
• AI Applications in the Human and Natural Sciences

Eligible Academic Background

Applicants must hold a PhD from a recognized research university in one of the following fields:

• Information Science
• Computer Science
• Computer Engineering / Software Engineering
• Data Science / Data Engineering
• Information Technology
• Information Systems
• Industrial Engineering and Management
• Mathematics and Exact Sciences
• Natural Sciences

Appointments will be made in accordance with the academic procedures and regulations of Bar-Ilan University. The Department is not obligated to appoint any of the applicants.

Applicants are required to submit their complete application dossier by March 16, 2026 (midnight), including:

• A cover letter outlining the candidate’s academic profile and research and teaching agenda
• A curriculum vitae, including a list of publications and conference participation
• A list of courses previously taught and evidence of teaching excellence
• Contact details (name, institutional affiliation, email address, and telephone number) of three faculty members at recognized academic institutions who would be willing to provide a letter of recommendation upon request
